If you wish to promote your products or services using your web site, think about how you might want to achieve this. Who is your target market and what is the best way to present the information to them? Will the web site be used to support an offline marketing drive?


Your web site's main purpose is to promote a product or service, or raise brand awareness. You can think about additional ways to keep a visitor on your web site, increase chances they will return. As the Intenet is interactive in nature, try to think of ways to capitalise on this. Perhaps you can add interesting features such as a quiz or flash animations. Perhaps you can create a community element such as a forum.


If you are unsure about any of these things, then you should discuss them with your web developer. The developer can advise on what content is appropriate or effective, based on the individual project.

If you have decided to implement some method of trading online, then what is the best way to do this? Do you provide some form of quote system, or a standard shopping cart system? Do you require something new to be developed? How do you plan to accept payments.

With your web site you can provide additional services to your existing customers, thus increasing their satisfaction with your company. Think about ways you can do this. If there is information that your customer rerquires from you, make it available online. This may be a simple as a Frequently Asked Questions section or easily available contact information. You can also integrate databases into your website, and password protected areas for clients to access private information.

If the web site is designed to complement an existing marketing drive, then you will probably have logos, artwork and copy available to the designer. Decide if existing material can be incorporated, or the content for the web site will need to be created from scratch. You should also consider the relevance of the content over time.
